It is 30 years since the Stockholm workshop on ‘Symptomatology and Diagnostic Methods in Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome’ proposed the introduction of a new clinical scoring system for hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) to replace the Taylor-Pelmear scale. In 2003, Lawson himself proposed a revised scale defining terms like ‘frequent’ and ‘occasional’ and splitting stage 2 sensorineural into early and late.
